Creative clinical reflection/Supervision.
Attending clinical supervision is an ethical requirement for all therapists working with people in the helping professions. Supervision or reflective clinical practice seeks to support and invigorate therapists, it helps us expand perspective and continually build on skills and knowledge so that we can provide the highest standard of safe and innovative care to the people with whom we work.
Clinical reflection or supervision can take place either individually or within a group setting.
For effective supervision to take place it is essential that supervisees' feel safe and free from the negative judgement of others, so that they can freely express themselves without fear of negative repercussions. In a safe, open, nurturing and learning environment, our internal reactions to the clients with whom we work can be transformed into important knowledge which we can then use to inform the direction of our therapy and improve our therapeutic relationships.
A unique and powerful approach to clinical reflection
In recent years I have become passionate about creating a truly supportive environment for the provision of effective clinical reflection for both teams and individuals.
Grounded in over twenty years of clinical practice I have developed a unique and powerful clinical reflection style inspired by acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, creative arts therapy and the trauma informed lense. This supervision model extends the empowering practices of narrative therapy supervision, by utilising the rich possibilities of multi-modal representation and art therapy procedures. It utilises mindfulness to foster clinicians' resilience, self awareness and therapeutic presence and focuses on professional values identification and acceptance.
I am available to provide both individual and group supervision to anyone who is interested in reflecting on their professional work, invigorating their practice or developing and maintaining supportive team cultures.
